DTG is delighted to announce the appointment of Dave Samuel as our new Digital Consultancy Director.
Dave is a highly experienced digital and IT leader with more than 25 years in the Life Sciences and healthcare industries, bringing deep expertise in manufacturing IT, automation, digital transformation and business partnering. His career has been defined by leading large-scale technology programmes, building strong business–IT partnerships, and helping global organisations unlock the value of digital in highly regulated environments.
A proven leader in Life Sciences IT
Dave began his career at GSK, where he spent over 20 years in progressively senior roles across manufacturing and IT. During this time, he led initiatives spanning manufacturing performance, site automation, IT service management, and global engineering support. As Director of IT Business Partnering for Global Manufacturing Engineering & Facilities Services, he worked closely with operational leaders to design and deliver digital solutions that improved efficiency, compliance and resilience across a complex global network.
In 2019, Dave joined Roche as IT Business Partner for Pharma Clinical Operations, supporting the delivery of innovative digital capabilities to accelerate clinical development. His role focused on aligning IT strategy with business needs in one of the most data-driven and critical parts of the pharma value chain.
He then moved to Smith+Nephew, taking on global IT leadership roles across manufacturing and regulatory functions. As Senior Director of IT Global Manufacturing, and later Global IT Head of Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs, Dave was responsible for driving digital initiatives across highly regulated areas, balancing innovation with compliance, and ensuring technology underpinned operational excellence worldwide.
Driving digital transformation in pharma manufacturing
Since September 2024, Dave has been working with DTG as a Lead Business Partnering Consultant, embedded with a major pharmaceutical client. In this role, he helped shape and deliver their Autonomous Manufacturing programme—a transformative initiative harnessing advanced digital technologies to increase efficiency, reduce variability, and enable smarter, data-driven operations.
This experience has given Dave a unique perspective on the opportunities and challenges of digital transformation in Life Sciences manufacturing today—and the leadership to help our clients realise that potential.
